Camp Programming and Majors
ART
Our staff will assist campers with the creation of a band logo, design a T-shirt, poster, CD cover, backstage pass, and other promotional materials for their band. These art classes will provide another creative outlet for our campers.
RECREATION
It’s not ALL the instruments! We believe that all performers should be physically fit, that's why we have physical exercises that will focus on developing strong singing voices and performers! These activities help to provide a well-rounded program each day for all of our campers and offer a chance to bond with other students who are not in their Hip Hop group.
AUDIO PRODUCTION AND RECORDING
Campers will learn the basics of recording their original song. This will give them the ability to learn how to edit, adjust, mix, and create songs from scratch. This option is only available to campers who have voice as one of their electives. Campers will not only write an original song, they will also record it! Recording live instruments can be complicated, but practice makes perfect. Each camper will receives access to download their song on our website at the end of the summer.
MUSIC BUSINESS
Artportunity Knocks has more than just a music camp! Campers learn how to promote themselves as a solo artist by creating an electronic press kit, CD covers and posters in class. They will also play "The Hip-Hop Apprentice" in which they will be given a Music Business challenge and perform task! The choose a project manager and at the end of the class, they must do their presentation in front of "industry executives." Music Business is explored even more when campers go to the Hip Hop Extreme Camp.
Piano, Guitar, Violin, Drums
Campers learn how to express their ideas through song. Campers are all set in courses based on age and level. Instruments can either be rented for an additional fee, or the camper can bring their own. Campers will learn basic music theory, learn how to play popular songs, and learn how to write music. This course comes with a music notebook, and up to 3 hours of class instruction. Our staff offers encouragement and guidance as students create their original songs. Piano and Guitar students will get a chance to hear themselves live during our recording sessions and possibly use their creations as a sample to a track. Advanced Violin students will get an opportunity to audition for the Georgia Youth Symphony and perform live all across Georgia. Drum students will get a chance to market their talent at a live event in Atlanta and the winning drummer from our camp will get a "PAID GIG" Artportunity!
VIP FRIDAYS
Every Friday, a special guest from within the entertainment industry visits our camp to speak to the campers, give them industry tips, and judge their performances. These comments are not sugarcoated and designed to assist our campers with developing their skills to go the next level. They also get a chance to ask their industry professionals questions pertaining to the business of entertainment, and receive real advice. These VIP sessions has been visited by actor Justin Martin, Fashion Photographer Robert Eckert, Grammy Winner Songwriter for Reba McEntire, Bruce Burch and many more to come!
