History of Artportunity Knocks School of Music and Performing Arts
Artportunity Knocks School of Music and Performing Arts was founded in 2007 in Atlanta, Georgia. The school was a direct result of the success of the nonprofit organization Artportunity Knocks' after-school program. The after-school program consists of incorporating the arts with basic general education. As a result, students test scores soared and the programs kept the kids out of trouble.
The founders of the after-school program believed that this Arts/Education philosophy would not only be the catalyst for change in education, but a means to instill art and music appreciation in the hearts of their students. So in 2011, the School of Music and Performing Arts opened it doors providing students with an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of music and the performing arts, while our instructors incorporate the concepts of math, science, literature and history. This school is one of a kind in its field!

Artportunity Knocks founders have been mentoring youth in America for a combination of over 15 years. But they started out with humble beginnings.
Music Production has been our founder's passion for over 20 years. In order to share his passion with others, he and his wife created a small studio in the 2nd bedroom of their small apartment and opened their doors to the youth in their community.
They started out with three teenagers, to now having mentored hundreds of youth! This unexpected growth showed them that there was a demand for this type of service. So it inspired them to launch ARTportunity Knocks.
Little did they know that their purpose extended far beyond this organization. They became the catalyst for change in their communities. Through the arts, they inspired, motivated, and exchange information that sparked hope in these underserved youth. Through their love for music, they have drawn many teens, inspiring them to write, produce, sing, and record their own musical creations. They have hosted music sessions using their own resources, time, money, food and energy.
It is their passion and their heart is to give the youth an opportunity of a lifetime! They believe they have created a unique approach (niche) to reaching this generation: loving mentorship, positive arts self-expression, and most of all ART OPPORTUNITIES!
A few of the youth were former gang members, ex-drug dealers, youth with behavioral challenges, and 95% come from a single-parent homes. That is why the world classifies them as high risk, but we believe every child is high risk when they are not dispensed HOPE and LOVE! But YOU can help. Please donate today!
